Use the following for using scp:
Assumptions - ssh to server has been setup correctly - see note on setting up ssh.
scp -prvqC files user@host target directory
options:
-p --> preserve time stamps
-r --> copy subsdirectories
-v --> verbose mode
-q --> quiet - don't include progress counter.
-C --> compress. Note: When running in compress mode, scp runs at a slower rate.
